This year, the Independence Day falls on a Friday, which means you get a three day weekend to get your fill of the monsoons. In our previous post, we covered quick monsoon getaways from Delhi this time we bring you these combinations of places to explore in this extended weekend!
Delhi + Jaipur + Agra (Golden Triangle Tour)
Explore India’s Golden Triangle tourist circuit which includes three top destinations: Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur. It’s a well-travelled route, hosting many of India’s great cultural gems, and providing a good spectrum of the country’s different landscapes.
Day 1: Delhi – Agra
You will be picked up from your hotel or airport and transferred to Agra. It takes around 3 hours (210 km/130 miles) via the Yamuna Express way. Upon arrival to Agra you will meet your local tour guide who will take you on a 2-hour excursion to explore the Taj Mahal. Then you will visit Agra Fort and I’timad-Ud-Daulah’s Tomb. Also, you will see some marble art work of Agra.
At 6pm you will be taken to your hotel in Agra for overnight stay.
Day 2: Agra – Jaipur – Fatehpur Sikri
You will be picked up from your hotel and proceed on a 6-hour ride (250 km/155 miles) to Jaipur. On the way there you will stop at the Imperial complex – Fatehpur Sikri. During next 1 hour you will visit, Diwan-i-Khas, Panch Mahal Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, the Tomb of Salim Chishti and more, and then continue your road to Jaipur.
Upon arrival at 7pm (subject to traffic conditions) you will check-in to your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 3: Jaipur
You will leave on a full-day sightseeing tour of Jaipur. Your local tour guide will take you on 2-hour visit of the Amer Fort, then you will visit Hawa Mahal and the City Palace (1 hour for each destination). After that, you will continue to Jantar Mantar and Jal Mahal.
At the end of excursion you will return to your hotel by 6pm for overnight stay.
Day 4: Jaipur – Delhi (By road 290kms approx) Departure
In the morning you will check out of your the hotel and proceed on 6-hour (approximately 290 km/180 miles) drive back to Delhi. Upon arrival you will be dropped-off at the airport for your onward journey.
Udaipur + Mount Abu
If you are looking for a touch of royalty, head out to Rajasthan for a short trip from Delhi. The mighty palaces and forts take on a rustic hue in the monsoons, head for Udaipur to experience how the Royalty lived. Explore the Monsoon Palace, Bagore ki Haveli, the Lake Palace, take a horse ride around the city or indulge in some shopping in the variety of flea markets. If the city feels a little overwhelming, take a road trip to Mount Abu, the only Hill station here complete with beautiful lakes and gushing waterfalls.

Delhi to Udaipur ( Friday Morning) by Chetak Express / Mewar Express or by bus.
1 Days: Spend the day in Udaipur
2 Days : Enjoy the morning in Udaipur, leave for Mount Abu in the afternoon by a bus, reach there by late evening

Jodhpur + Jaisalmer

Pushkar + Ajmer
The holy cities of Pushkar and Ajmer together house two of the most revered holy sites in India. The 14 century Temple dedicated to Brahma is surrounded by numerous ghats and the Pushkar Lake which owes its existence to a legend. Ajmer on the other hand is known for the Shrine of Sufi Saint Moinuddin Chistri, Ajmer’s Dargah Shariff is an important pilgrimage site. Akbar Fort Museum in Ajmer is another place to visit or you can also go shopping in the small colorful markets of Pushkar for handicrafts.
Possible Itinerary: 3 days/2 nights: Delhi – Ajmer – Pushkar – Delhi:
1 Days : Delhi to Ajmer ( Friday afternoon) by Ajmer Shatabdi or by a taxi/bus, spend the day in Ajmer
2 Days: Visit Pushkar by a cab/bus and enjoy the day in Pushkar
3 Days: Relax in Pushkar in the lake side cafes, go back to Ajmer by evening

Jaipur + Bhangarh
Jaipur is renowned for textiles block printing, blue pottery; carpet weaving, semi-precious stones. Jaipur epitomizes the spirit of Rajputana – despite its current incarnation as a bustling metropolitan, the city still retain its 18th century character and history.
Day 01: Jaipur: You will be received at airport/railway station and transferred to the hotel. Soon after check in we visit Amer Fort, Jal Mahal, City Palace, Observatory, Hawa Mahal, Walled Pinkcity & Albert Hall Museum. By the evening we visit the modern attractions of the city which includes the Birla Auditorium, New Vidhan Sabha, Birla Mandir and Jawahar Kala Kendra. Later we experience the Rajasthani dinner, folk music and dance with complete rural atmosphere in an ethnic village. Overnight at Jaipur.
Day 02: Bhangarh – Abhaneri – Mehandipur Balaji – Jaipur:
After breakfast we take day tour to World Famous Bhangarh Fort also known as Ghost Fort, Abhaneri Stepwell and Mehandipur Balaji. By the evening we return back to Jaipur. Overnight at Jaipur.
Day 03: Jaipur: After breakfast you will be transferred to Jaipur Airport/Railway Station to connect your onwards journey. (The Tour Ends)
